Sound Is Slower Than Light

Sound travels much slower than light. While light moves at about 300,000 kilometers per second, sound travels at only around 343 meters per second in air. This difference is why we see lightning before we hear thunder during a storm.

Because sound depends on a medium like air or water to travel, it cannot move through a vacuum like light can. Understanding the speed of sound helps in many areas, including music, communication, and science. It also explains everyday experiences like echoes and how we perceive distance. Shutdown123
